McGalliard Creek Catenary Bridge
Valdese, North Carolina
The 160ft McGalliard Creek Bridge connects the city of Valdese's McGalliard Falls Park with its Lakeside Park. In doing so, two miles of easily accessible trails alongside the creek, Lake Rhodhiss and other developing trail systems could finally be joined. This project provided the noteworthy challenge of difficult site accessbility. As such, materials were brought in on small trucks and other vehicles and concrete was mixed by hand. To build for longevity, this bridge was elevated over the hundred year flood mark and, of course, constructed with longlasting black locust.
In collaboration with Valdese Parks & Recreation
